The Renewing Power of the Holy Spirit

Is it possible for lives broken by the delusions of lust and pride to be made new; nightmares of evil to disappear?

Is it possible to have the joy of the LORD restored in our lives when we have been given over to prodigal living?

Can our souls actually experience peace during stressful living?

Yes.

Genesis chapter one gives us the account of creation. It says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (1:1-2 NIV).

The word hovering means the Spirit was giving life to creation that was in the process of being brought into existence. Verses one and two are like major headlines of an event. The remaining chapter of Genesis is the telling of the event of creation. He was giving form to what was being created, vitality to living creatures so they could function according to their purpose. When a bird hovers over her chicks, she is giving them protection, warmth and care that are necessary for their existence. The Holy Spirit was giving life and care to God’s creation.

The Name of the Holy Spirit means breath. Psalms 33:6 says, “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.” In Psalm 104:30 we read, “When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth” (NIV). The word renew is chadash in Hebrew. It means to be new, renew, and repair.

Through the healing blood of Jesus given for our sin, through the renewing power of the Holy Spirit and the unfailing love of God, our lives can be made new! We can experience the deep, satisfying joy of our Heavenly Father’s fellowship and be secure in an insecure world! Our responsibility is to believe on the Lord Jesus, He will do the work deep in our souls that desperately need loving attention.

Rely on His love so the Holy Spirit can renew and repair;

removing a spirit of despair and replacing it with garments of joy and salvation!
